The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of duties relating to the examination /appraisal of financial records, reports, controls, policies, and practices requiring the application of professional auditing/accounting procedures, methods and techniques; to complete developmental assignments/training outlined in the formal training/development plan.
- Plans researches, schedules, and coordinates audits.
- Conducts audits of Air Force activities and programs.
- Analyzes audit data, prepares conclusions and recommendations, prepares and coordinates reports, and presents findings.
- Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development
Occasional travel - Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.

QualificationsIn order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions,Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions.
This position has both basic qualifications AND specialized experience:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or
public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. NOTE: The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of
credit in business law. The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. The team provides complex auditing services
directly affecting a large of complex multi-mission military installation.
Combination of education and experience, which included at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of
accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided me with professional accounting knowledge. Background also
includes at least one of the following:
1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses (which can include up to 6 hours of business law);
2) a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
3) completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, provided that (a) successfully
worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or
auditors has determined that have demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth,
depth, currency and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4 year course of study described
in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, my education, training, and
experience fully meet the specified requirements.
GS-11: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional, comprehensive knowledge of theories, practices, methods, and techniques of auditing; and knowledge of organizational or program practices, polices, and functions sufficient to independently plan and conduct a variety of auditing assignments

3. Skill in researching and evaluating organizational records, databases, systems of internal controls, practices, etc., to gather and determine the reliability, relevancy, and adequacy of information needed to draw objective conclusions and make useful recommendations.
4. Ability to establish cooperative interactions with officials and other personnel in programs and organizations to interview, observe, and obtain needed information for auditing purposes and to facilitate the scheduling, coordinating and carrying out of audits.
5. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
