Summary

About the Position: The incumbent is part of the Audits and Inspections Directorate (A&I) and reports to the Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Inspections (AIG-A&I). The incumbent edits/proofreads and formats various A&I products, primarily audit and inspection reports and letters, ensuring they align with A&I templates and the SIGAR Style Guide to meet SIGAR standards. The incumbent may also support other SIGAR directorates and offices as approved by the AIG-A&I.

Duties

Help

  • Copyedits, formats and proofreads documents, such as audit and inspection reports, to ensure they are consistent with established A&I templates and the SIGAR Style Guide.
  • Improve the visual appeal of audit and inspection reports by working with A&I teams and SIGAR's Visual Information Specialists to develop tables, charts, figures, and photos for use in the products.
  • Manage the distribution of documents prepared by the directorate to include notification letters, draft reports for agency comments, and final reports published on SIGAR's public website, to relevant internal and external points of contact.
  • Manage A&I's electronic mailbox to facilitate easy archiving and retrieval of communications with the audit agencies and other parties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe work which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: editing/proofreading and formatting various reports, using automated formatting tools/graphic design applications, and developing tables/charts/graphs.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Expert command of grammar and spelling rules, Chicago Manual of Style, and producing products that are accurate, clear and consistent.
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, writing, or communication, or related college-level coursework is desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience copyediting, proofreading, and formatting reports and other written documents that are published for public audiences. Experience working with an Office of Inspector General, the Government Accountability Office, or other audit agency is desirable.
  • Expert knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Word formatting tools and graphic design applications, such as Adobe InDesign, to create tables, charts, and integrate photos in documents.
  • Extensive experience managing multiple tasks to achieve stated goals and requirements in identified timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, and experience working with others at all levels of authority to exert a positive influence and achieve results.

Education

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position may be considered essential to the overall support of the SIGAR mission. If considered emergency essential, failure to meet emergency essential requirements may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal Service (Ch. 75, Title 5 USC; FPM Ch. 752).
  • This position may require travel to Afghanistan. In support of this travel, the incumbent will be required to meet minimum standards of fitness for deployment to the U.S. Central Command region to include the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor, and chemical/biological protective garments.
  • Must complete a Form SF312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement.
  • Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
