    This position is part of the OPERATIONS DC WNRC, National Archives and Records Administration. As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will performs various duties related to the transfer, reference, and dispositions of records, and provides assistance to researchers working within the WNRC Classified Research Room.

    As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, GS-1421-5/6/7, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

    • Maintain and update databases for classified records.
    • Provide reference services on national security information (NSI) materials and controlled unclassified information (CUI) materials. Perform or oversee the performance of various duties related to searching, retrieving, refiling, shelving, removing and screening Federal records and preparing them for pickup by customers. Performs audits on second requests, negatives and other unusual requests, refiles and interfiles.
    • Greet couriers and escort contractors and other non-NARA personnel, especially in vault areas or other areas containing sensitive records.
    • Sort, wrap, address, and log outgoing mail according to NSI, CUI and uncontrolled unclassified policies and procedures. Perform routine administrative assistance duties such as internal messenger runs, photocopying of records, and reporting facility and equipment problems.
    • Serve as a team leader of between 3 to 5 lower graded archives technicians or Provide contractors. Provide orientation training and technical advice, distribute work, review work, and resolve problems.
