    Summary

    This position is located in the Office of Technology Development (OTD), Directorate of the Chief Technology Officer in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). OTD develops robust, secure, and effective technologies for the U.S. Currency Program, allowing these technologies to be confidently incorporated into banknotes.

    Responsibilities

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • Facilitates the integration of technologies from a research & development environment (SFD/MAD) to intended use in finished products (either existing or new) by following the multi-phase gate Technology Development Process. This includes developing and implementing technology integration plans, gaining needed approvals and support for the implementation of those plans, defining needs and requirements based on success criteria for each technology project, and successfully transferring the technology product to the OCM or OPD, as appropriate.

    • Develops comprehensive evaluation plans for new materials and security features. Coordinates administrative, manufacturing, engineering, and scientific aspects of testing, including any required technical assistance from other BEP components, security and/or product accountability, and participation of outside facilities where necessary.

    • Applies knowledge of project management principles to assure that projects are successfully completed, on schedule and within established budgets. Presents results in both written reports and oral presentations.

    Occasional travel - 1 to 5 nights per month.
