Summary

This position is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position Maintenance Worker (MVO) NA-07 with DLA Installation Operations at the HQ Complex CDC, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

This position is a regular full-time (RFT) position, which guarantees 40 hours per week. RFT employees are entitled to a comprehensive benefits package, including the accrual of annual and sick leave, health benefits, life insurance. This announcement may be extended based on applicant pool.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Duties

Help

As a Maintenance Worker (MVO) NA-07 Assigned to a Child and Youth Services facility the incumbent is responsible for the following

  • Coordinate monitor and escort maintenance workers to the facility and grounds to ensure the safety of the children and security is maintained.
  • Conduct and document daily equipment, facility, playground, and safety inspections
  • Prepare track and submit work orders for repair requiring additional expertise.
  • Identifies materials and equipment for disposal and follows proper procedures for turn-in.
  • Monitors outside areas to ensure proper Installation provided grounds and maintenance support have been received.
  • Assist with the immediate transportation of children in the event of evacuation.
  • Assist the Kitchen staff in the absence or shortage of staff.
  • Enterprise Safety Applications Management System (ESAMS) coordinator.

Position-specific Conditions of Employment

1. All required background checks of AR 215-3, Chapter 2, paragraph 2-13:

  • Obtain and maintain Childcare National Agency Check with Inquires, which includes State Criminal Repository Checks (reverified every five years);
  • Installation Records Checks (reverified every five years);
2. Submission of DA Form 2981, Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission (Department of Defense Child and Youth (C&Y) Programs) (annual requirement)
3. Physical evaluation, including immunizations (annual requirement); AND
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, and stoop and stand on a routine basis.
5. Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
6. This position requires mandatory drug testing.
7. Position requires possess or ability to obtain within 12 month of employment a National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) Certification.

Qualifications

This position requires the incumbent to posses generalized/specialized experience to be minimally qualified, which includes:

Experience preparing submitting and tracking various types of maintenance work orders for repair with additional expertise.

Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a valid state driver's license.
Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle.
OR
Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle.

Education

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.

180-day Restriction for Military Retirees: Military retirees are unable to be appointed to NAF positions for 180 days after their retirement date, as documented on their DD-214. Military retirees who, by 12/24/2018, have been retired from the military for more than 150 days may apply; however, they will not be appointed until they have reached the 180 day mark. Waivers will not be granted for Child and Youth Program Assistant positions.
