    This position is for a Contact Specialist and is responsible for the full range of pre-award and post-award contracting activities involved in the acquisition of equipment and supplies, services, emergency repairs, architect and engineering services such construction, alteration and repair of facilities, repairs to off-sore structures, construction and repair of aids-to-navigation, and dredging.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

    1. Reviewing assigned procurement packages (procurement requests, technical specifications, cost estimates, requests for inclusion of liquidates damages and all referenced data) for adequacy of content and compliance with applicable laws and procurement regulations.

    2. Drafting solicitations incorporating all terms and conditions required by law.

    3. Preparing invitation for bids and requests for proposals, conducts final review of solicitations and authorizes their release of prospective bidders/offerers and prepares resultant contracts for final signature.

    4. Performing contract administration which consists of interpreting contract terms and conditions, searching for appropriate legal references, and conducting discussions with contractor and government personnel to seek remedies to problems as they arise.

    5. Being responsible for termination assignments including full or partial termination for convenience or default.
