Summary

Incumbent serves in a developmental capacity as a Health Communication Specialist, GS-1001-11/12. Duties and responsibilities are identical to the target position, except the major differences involving the incumbent's level of supervision and the amount of independence in day-to-day assignments. The purpose of the position is to support planning, implementation, and evaluation of various health communication and marketing activities designed to impact positive health outcomes.

Duties

Help

As a Health Communications Specialist you will:

  • Provides consultation and technical advice in the development and implementation of priorities, strategies, and practices for communicating with various audiences.
  • Develop, test, and disseminate science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in a variety of formats.
  • Research and/or evaluate activities related to health communication and marketing.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective management of program resources and administrative processes.
  • Perform liaison activities between program and other communication and marketing staff and with external stakeholders.
  • Present health communication briefings or presentations to various groups.
  • Develop and disseminate science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in a variety of formats.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications GS-11: Must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service to include experience developing public health related materials and information; OR I have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree; OR 3 (three) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; OR I have a combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

Minimum Qualifications GS-12: Must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service to include implementation of public health communication strategies and marketing campaigns.

Education

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
