Duties

Help
  • Conducts preliminary investigations.
  • Obtains verbal and written statements.
  • Apprehends known or suspected criminal offenders, conducts searches and seizures.
  • Responds to all intrusion detection alarms without prior knowledge of actual situations at the troubled area and responds to all types of emergency situations.
  • Performs a variety of traffic control duties and collects data for traffic studies and gathers other facts and determines contributing factors surrounding motor vehicle accidents and writes accident reports.
  • Ensures the protection of U.S. Government personnel, information, operations, and critical assets by safeguarding control over highly sensitive /special access areas where there is potential for significant breach of national security.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must meet the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program.
  • Shift work may be required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work are flexible with fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Overtime may be required. Applicant is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to emergency overtime.
  • Mandatory Drug Testing
  • Must undergo and pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc).
  • Must pass an initial weapons qualification and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms.
  • Must complete CPR certification and First Aid.
  • Must successfully complete the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy and other law enforcement training.
  • Must pass an initial physical agility test and must pass one annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Certified or obtain certification in the use of aerosol irritants, electronic stun devices, and radar gun.
  • Must wear PPE equipment when required.
  • Must wear prescibed uniform.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal Service performing the following duties 1) enforcing laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures; 2) protecting the health, safety, privacy, or best interest of the public, staff, or others who may be at risk; and 3) completing checklists and contingency actions in responding to incidents, emergencies, and hostile or potentially hostile actions AND I have successfully completed the U.S. Army Civilian Police Academy or complete the academy within one year of hire date in accordance with AR 190-56. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of documentation to verify successful completion of the academy in accordance with AR 190-56)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Some Federal positions allow the substitution of education for experience. For this position, you must qualify based on experience alone.
