Duties

Help
  • You will perform disassembly, inspection, assembly, reconfiguration and circuit testing of tactical Standard Missile rocket motors.
  • You will perform functional and operational tests, evaluate performance characteristics and compare results with established parameters.
  • You will identify and document process improvements via verbal communication, written description, drawings, sketches or simple prototype fabrication.
  • You will perform inspection of parts and materials to ensure specifications are met.
  • You will document material movement and inventory count.
  • You will provide on-the-job training for less experienced mechanics on non-routine tasks and assist helper or repairer with complex operations.

Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, stretching, climbing, and working in uncomfortable positions.

Work regularly requires lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying items and equipment averaging 40 pounds.

Work is typically performed inside shop areas with occasional outside work in areas that may be noisy and drafty, but generally are well heated and ventilated. There is a chance of frequent exposure to cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and injury while performing job assignments.

Protective clothing and equipment such as respirators, masks, shields, coveralls, gloves, conductive safety shoes, and safety glasses will be required where the work assignment is to be performed in an area that has the possibility of exposure to toxic chemicals.

Occasionally, work is required in close proximity to explosive components and devices.
