This position is located in the Office of External Affairs, Office of Communications.  The incumbent will function under the supervision of the Media Content Manager. The incumbent should be proficient in videography and photography and have the ability to develop multimedia applications for the web, social media, and other digital formats.  The incumbent uses Adobe Premiere and Photoshop or comparable software to compress and encode video and photos for the web and other digital formats.

Duties

Help

The Multimedia Specialist performs the following major duties:

  • The incumbent will develop, collect and maintain digital assets with excellent lighting and sound techniques for studio and field interviews, action-oriented event capture, and B-Roll.
  • Develops the structure and organization of multimedia applications.
  • Handles the acquisition, tracking and conversion of text, image, audio and visual assets.
  • Identifies, acquires, reviews, and recommends multimedia programs within a subject area for acquisition and broadcast, and/or distribution.
  • Conducts negotiations with senior officials of outside suppliers for broadcast and usage rights.
  • Designs, develops, and produces written and graphical material for video and web purposes, including establishing templates, choosing formats, typefaces, photos and music.
  • Contacts vendors to solicit bids, prepares necessary documentation for purchase of materials needed for production.
  • Resolves problems involving a variety of applications programs, system software, and interlocking equipment systems.

Intelligence Background Information

Peace Corps Manual Section 611 is applicable to this position. This section prohibits the employment of certain persons previously engaged in intelligence activities or connected with intelligence agencies within the past 10 years. If you have ever worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), you are not eligible for employment at the Peace Corps in any capacity, and you should not apply for employment.

Qualifications

You must meet the specialized experience at the grade level(s) in which you choose to be considered by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the announcement. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To ensure full credit for your experience, please indicate dates of employment by month, day, and year and the number of hours worked per week in your resume.

FP-4

Qualifying experience for the FP-4 grade level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-5 or GS-9 grade level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Experience applying principles, practices, methods, and techniques for communicating information through multimedia and audio-visual means; Experience with all phases of multimedia production, programming, writing and editing from inception to completion; Experience developing and presenting information through multimedia means on programs related to the mission of an agency; Experience researching topics and making decisions on presentation methods.
