    The Auditor, located in the Office of Audits and Evaluations, serves on an audit team that is responsible for planning and conducting financial and performance audits of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs, functions, and operations.

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
    - Conduct broad financial and performance audits assignments requiring integrated analysis of a number of different accounting systems as well as management programs, systems and operations.
    - Prepare and conduct audit surveys and program evaluations, which focus on specific audit objectives. Perform important segments of the audit; identify techniques or methods to use in gathering data and documentation.
    - Research and prepare proposals for future department-wide audits.
    - Participate with the OIG investigative or inspection staff in joint projects and in investigating and responding to Hotline complaints when expertise is required. 

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
