Duties

Help
  • As a Public Affairs Specialist (Social Media) you will perform the following duties:
  • Manage a public affairs and digital information program and its procedures governing information dissemination via social media functions
  • Maintain editorial control of official ICE social media accounts in coordination with Strategic Communication leadership
  • Develop communication plans utilizing in-depth understanding of the DHS and ICE mission and needs as well as expert knowledge of online and social media concepts, principles and practices
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with ICE and DHS OPA representatives, social media platform representatives and with senior ICE officials and staff
  • Maintain effective social media analytics program to document and measure results of public affairs campaigns and outreach across social media platforms

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Using best-practice graphic and visual communication techniques and principles to design usable and visually appealing web and social media content;
  • Developing a wide range of information for dissemination through a variety of electronic media;
  • Creating high-quality effects and designs for posts on multiple social media platforms; and
  • Assisting senior team leaders in monitoring editorial content of official web and social media accounts for materials and style content

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Providing expert input on concepts, design and construction of exhibit systems and products (e.g. graphics, text and video) for use on social media;
  • Employing project management concepts, tools and techniques to perform cost benefit analysis and return on investment forecast and analysis;
  • Developing a wide range of information for dissemination through a variety of electronic media as well as determining the most effective medium for command messages;
  • Reviewing web and social media content, identifying remedies for situations when content is out of date or contradictory; and
  • Serving as a subject matter expert for web-related and social media content on official websites and social media accounts.
