Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Although a college degree is desired, there are no required educational degrees. Specialized experience only must be met. Current federal employee applicants must meet time in grade requirements.
Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GG-13, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is considered that which is in, or directly related to, the line of work of the position to be filled, and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is defined as Professional level work providing cultural resource program support and professional advice in a position whose main function is centered on cultural resources and Section 106; participating in consultations with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs) and/or Indian tribes; and conducting, developing or reviewing cultural resource projects or studies in support of Section 106 reviews.

While there is no specific education requirement for this position, ACHP has indicated that a degree from a college or university in the fields of archaeology, cultural resources management, landscape architecture, historic preservation, or a certificate of advanced training in these fields or other closely related field, is highly desirable. The ACHP also encourages those with experience in federal land management projects that assess and manage effects to historic properties to apply.

If selected for this position, you will be extended a tentative offer of employment pending a satisfactory background check. Current Federal employees or individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check; these will be handled on a case-by-case basis in coordination with the Bureau security office.
