As a Financial Systems Analyst, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Performs financial analyses to identify and resolve complex financial system and data issues, which emerge in production operations, and record, review, and reconcile financial information and prepare reports with financial data for Chief Financial Officer, Financial Management Office, and OIG Components. Develops and executes oracle database queries in order to provide financial data in support of internal and external audits as well as other data inquiries. Identifies, prepares, and reviews system requirements and designs to ensure user needs are met or to address impacts by new financial regulations on the core financial and reporting systems. Maintains key system tables, and develop and execute test scripts for financial system software deliveries. Processes financial transactions in the OUSDC and/or OMB financial management systems.
Conducts studies on financial management system(s) in order to modify and implement automated accounting systems or supporting applications. Evaluates finance and accounting operations (e.g., processes, systems, internal control, procedures, etc.) to ensure efficiency and compliance. Serves as a liaison with a wide dispersed customer base including OUSDC, DAI, DLA, and DFAS. Serves as a subject matter expert for the OIG financial management and accounting systems processes. Serves as COR for the OIG financial management and accounting systems. Identifies opportunities to improve business processes, recommending changes that will optimize the operations within the OIG financial management and accounting system(s).
Analyzes and evaluates DOD and OIG procedures, policies, and other issues related to financial systems. Identifies specific problems requiring further analysis and prepares recommendations for changing methods and practices. Initiates and prepares instructions to agency field activities on new or revised accounting policies and system procedures. Assesses new computer technology and other means of improving productivity and efficiency of accounting systems and integrates into current or proposed systems. Conceptualizes integrating systems and recognizes potential interface problems with other systems. Identifies, coordinates, and resolves controversial or key issues and problems related to accounting systems design and modification. Provide effective customer support for OIG and FMO enterprise-wide initiatives and financial system projects, including support for financial management system users using expert knowledge of financial systems, accounting and budgetary practices/terminology, and related business rules. Represents the OIG in the application of financial management systems policies and procedures. Typically deals with officials within and outside of OIG.
