This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Office of General Counsel (OGC). The IG OGC provides independent, objective and comprehensive advice and legal counsel to the Inspector General and the OIG staff on all matters related to the OIG mission.

Duties

Help
  • Provides overall program administrative support in the accomplishment of OGC strategic goals.
  • Serves as authoritative point of contact for all administrative issues.
  • Provides centrally located administrative control, accountability, resolution of problems, and determination of compliance, tracking and planning.
  • Coordinates all OGC actions needed to implement procurement of equipment, supplies, and service and ensures regulatory requirements for procuring goods and services.
  • Serves at the alternate property custodian, responsible for ensuring the maintenance of property records. Ensures that an accurate inventory of all equipment is maintained.
  • Places supply and equipment orders through OIG General Service Administration (GSA) and contracted vendors. Researches requests for a cost effective use of the Government credit card prior to authorization.
  • Coordinates the completion of performance plans and annual performance appraisals with the Front Office Administrative Officer.
  • Establishes and maintains files in accordance with OIG regulations. Arranges for the retirement or destruction of material in accordance with the IG DoD records management policy.
  • Maintains the office management database document log tracking system.
  • Serves as the timekeeper.
  • Receives incoming correspondence, screens material prior to distribution.
  • Manages the General Counsel?s calendar and schedules appointments.

  • Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-07 and or GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

Specialized Experience (GS-07): Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 level in the federal service or an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: providing administrative support to office staff. The experience must involve: interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; records management - establishing and maintaining office files; proficiency in office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; conducting suspense tracking reviews; initiating, coordinating and tracking personnel actions and performance appraisals; and maintaining calendars.

Specialized Experience (GS-09): Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the federal service or an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: providing a wide range of administrative support to office staff. The experience must involve: interpersonal communication, in person and telephonically; records management - establishing and maintaining office files; proficiency in office computer software programs, including Excel and PowerPoint; conducting suspense tracking reviews; initiating, coordinating and tracking personnel actions and performance appraisals; and maintaining calendars.
