Summary

This is an 13/13 permanent seasonal position located on Williamette National Forest, Sweet Home Ranger District, Sweet Home, OR.

This position is located in Forest Service unit. Incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of complex and recurring duties in support natural resource programs.

  • Collect samples, establish tests and control plots.

  • Conduct routine analyses. Utilize computer programs to organize the data for analysis.

  • Schedules, organizes, and executes field projects for detecting, identifying and evaluating natural resource problems.
  • Assists with development of reports. Compile and summarize data obtained from aerial and ground surveys including natural resource monitoring, evaluations, and pilot tests conducted as part of the project.

  • Participates as a team member to collaboratively achieve mutal goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met as of the date a certificate is issued.

GS-6. One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Examples of specialized experience include: Analyzing natural resources information, and preparing reports of findings with appropriate recommendations; Utilizing topographic maps, photographs, and data that identify a variety of natural resource areas and conditions; Collecting samples and recording data such as numbers, measurements, weights, samples, and special notes, and making determinations, such as species identification, habitat condition, injury, disease.

GS-7. One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Examples of specialized experience include: Detecting, identifying and evaluating natural resource problems; compiling and summarizing data obtained from ariel and ground surveys; collecting samples, establishing test and control plots; and contucting routine analysis.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND FINGERPRINT CHECK: Selection and retention in this position is contingent on a successfully adjudicated FBI National Criminal History Check (fingerprint check) and a background investigation.

Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Employees: Permanent County employees without prior Federal tenure who are selected for a Civil Service position under Public Law 105-277 will be given a career- conditional appointment and must serve a 1-year probationary period.

This is a bargaining unit designated position.

Forest Service daycare facilities may be available.

This is a bargaining unit position represented by the National Federation of Federal Employees, IAMAW.
