Provide expert epidemiologic advice and consultation to National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) and EPA management;
Develop innovative methods for environmental assessments and apply them;
Identify research to improve scientific assessments.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

Qualifications
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.
Health Scientist
You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in the following: major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences related to the work of this position.

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as analyzing epidemiologic data or assisting with epidemiological/population-based health studies that measure health effects of air quality in human populations.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as conducting the review and analysis of epidemiologic data or designing epidemiological/population-based health studies that measure the health effects of air quality in human populations.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge related to the principles, theories, and practices of epidemiologic studies; 2) Ability to serve as a technical authority in epidemiology; 3) Skill in oral communication; 4) Ability to adapt existing approaches and develop new approaches to current assessments; 5) Ability to analyze scientific assessments; 6) Skill in written communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
