Summary

The initial Duty Station will be selectee's home address until the opening of the Area Census Office (ACO) on or about January 2, 2019 in Anchorage, AK. At that time employees will be required to report to the ACO. Applicants must reside within commuting distance of Anchorage, AK to be considered for this position.

A Supervisory trial period may be required.

Relocation MAY be paid.

Duties

Help

The individual selected for this position will:

  • Be responsible for the overall management, oversight, and close control of field, office, and evaluation operations of the Area Census Office.
  • Develop and maintain a wide variety of outside contacts with local civic associations, businesses, religious groups, and other community-based organizations.
  • Provide coordination, technical direction, observe field observations, and provide analytical and logistical support in the Regional Census Center.
  • Monitor the cost and progress reports of field, office, and evaluations activities to assure operations are conducted on schedule and within budgeted allocations.
  • Perform or direct the recruiting, interviewing, testing, selection, and induction of new employees.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
For the GG-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. 

Experience for this position includes designing and implementing large-scale censuses or surveys; collecting data and developing procedures and techniques; preparing and monitoring cost progress reports; and identifying and implementing recruiting goals.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
