As an Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages, you will teach introductory and intermediate language courses in Portuguese. You will demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate education and expertise in instructional technology. You may lead and guide student research and will provide academic counseling and mentorship to the undergraduate students (cadets) at the US Military Academy.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Qualifications

This is a full-time, term appointment in the excepted service, starting on or about 1 June 2019 not to exceed 3 years. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
Qualification Requirements: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
Selective Placement Factors/Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) academic accomplishment in Portuguese (Ph.D. preferred); 2) native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and English; 3) evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level; 4) demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching.
