As a Legislative Liaison at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Monitors, analyzes, assesses and reports on Congressional interests, actions, and decisions of importance to the agency.
Assesses the political environment in terms of impact on agency mission, programs, and budget.
Provides legislative affairs advice and assistance to the senior agency leadership and workforce in responding to Congressional interests and requests for information, and assists in the development of agency responses.
Prepares agency officials for Congressional interactions, escorting them to such events, and ensures fulfillment of commitments made in the course of such interaction.
Reviews and analyzes legislation and accompanying reports to identify issues and potential problems that could impact the agency, and provides these to the Director of Legislative Affairs for further action.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service
Managing and facilitating strategic engagements with Congress, the media and the general public.
Serving as an agency liaison and/or coordinating with staff members on Capitol Hill.
Insight of committee, sub-committee, and select committee process, processes, and people involved in the day-to-day mechanics of the legislative branch.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
