Duties

Help

  • Enters, retrieves, analyzes, consolidates, and reports a broad range of investigative, programmatic, and operational data and information. Utilizes management information and automated systems to extract, analyze, and report statistical data for investigators, senior analysts, and senior management.
  • Utilizes management information and automated systems to extract, analyze, and report statistical data for investigators, senior analysts, and senior management.
  • Observes and advises on events, the status of investigations, programs and operations, and trends. Conducts a wide variety of analysis to detect trends and passes analyzed data to the responsible individual.
  • Prepares spreadsheets, charts, briefing slides, dashboards, and other reports in support of the agency reporting requirements.
  • Monitors automated time and attendance system and payroll data. Analyzes and resolves errors in the automated systems, tracks payroll execution overtime and compensatory time, and maintains current and accurate reports.
  • Assists in the review of travel authorizations and vouchers. Analyzes and resolves errors in the automated system for travel, tracks the travel budget execution, and produced reports.
  • Analyzes data from automated systems to assist with answers to General Counsel FOIA requests, Litigation Hold Requests, and Discovery requests.
  • Assists in the execution and monitoring of all personnel actions. Enters, tracks, retrieves, and analyzes personnel data in automated systems. Tracks and analyzes cumulative personnel actions for status, trends, and reports.

Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Unless you have already completed a creditable probationary period, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

The incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with Department of Defense (DoD) OIG. Organizational entities with the DoD are not required to conduct drug testing for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another TDP with no break in service within the DoD, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis by the gaining component.

The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-5 grade level:
A. Three years of general experience, at least one year of which was at a level equivalent to the GS-04 level or higher in the federal service. General experience is experience that demonstrates the ability to: analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
B. A four-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree.
C. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-7 grade level:
A. 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 level in the federal service or equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as performing database searches to assist with data and trend analysis in an investigative context, preparing routine reports, and providing information to senior analysts, investigators, and supervisors.
B. One full year of graduate level education. (One full year of graduate education is the number of hours the school determines to equal one year. If this information is unavailable, 18 semester hours will be used as the standard.) (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
C. A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. (1) Class standing-Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.)-Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. G.P.A. as recorded on the final transcript. The final transcript must cover the period being used to determine G.P.A., i.e., all 4 years or last 2 years. (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society-Applicant can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed. These honor societies are listed in the Association of College Honor Societies. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education and any other applicable documentation to verify your claim.)
D. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-9 grade level:
A. 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service or equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as assisting in performing trend analysis and statistical studies in an investigative context, manipulating data from a variety of databases, and summarizing and extracting essential information from reports for superiors.
B. A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
C. A combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Candidates will be further evaluated on the level and quality of their experience and possession of the following relevant competencies in order to determine the level of your qualifications. These competencies include:

  • Knowledge of investigative policies and procedures and complaint processing
  • Knowledge of investigative concepts and principles
  • Ability to research, obtain, and analyze data
  • Skill in written communication
  • Skill in database management
  • Ability to use office automation software
