This position is part of the Private John Allen National Fish Hatchery. As a Student Trainee (Fish Biology) you will assist with a wide variety of studies on fish and aquatic animal culture, management and behavior, collect and record information on growth, survival, weight gain, and a wide variety of factors pertaining to management of aquatic resources in the Southeastern United States.
This is a part-time position, 32 hours per pay period.

Duties may include:
Preparation of food and feeding of fish.
Manipulation of fish stock.
Fertilization of ponds.
Preparing organisms for delivery
Participating in population and habit assessments for a number of aquatic species.
Assist in collecting and preparing tissue samples for genetic testing.
Prepare routine reports.
Participate in routine facility maintenance duties such as cleaning, painting, mowing.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing to effectively disseminate information pertaining to research or hatchery programs.
