Work schedule
Full-time - This position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.
Uses geographic information systems (GIS) and other geographic methods to identify, process, analyze, and compare geographic and demographic patterns.
Reviews Proposals, plans, and specifications for geographic operations; studies ad critiques statistical methodology andn general data collection specifications as they affect affect geograhic support functions.
Design, develop, and implement, GIS and other geographic methods to prepare spatial databases, and map population patterns.
Acquire address lists from tax offices, city engineers, local planning agencies, utility companies, etc. in order enhance, update, or create address files included in TIGER and the Master address file.
Analyzes and reports on results of studies of population patterns; writes reports, methods documents, and articles, and creates technical presentations for meetings and conferences.

EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent using GIS software and computing tools to conduct geographic research, spatial analysis, and mapping. Experience using search engines, geographic software, and other tools to research, verify, and geocode address, address ranges, structural points, etc. Experience examining general data collection specification, reviewing statistical methodology, and identifying potential problems in data collection. Applicant must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal services. Experience for this position includes working with geographic information systems and address list development; performing geographic and/or geospatial analysis; preparing and writing technical documents, specifications, guidelines, and letters with clarity in concise language; experience conducting discussions, meetings, presentations for various audiences; experience working on teams to set priorities and project schedules; experience using automated tools to track projects; experience designing and running queries in databases.

EDUCATION: Degree as described under "Education Requirements" +2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.

Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
