  • You will locate information that is specialized or technical in nature, from a wide variety of published and unpublished sources, electronic data bases, and web-based resources.
  • You will modify existing operating policies and procedures to enhance circulation services.
  • You will recommend personnel management requirements (e.g., classification, hiring, reassignment, promotion, or dismissal) for the availability of skilled personnel to accomplish the organization's goals and objectives.
  • You will advise and guide technical support staff on procedures, maintenance, and record keeping for library programs.
  • You will establish long-range plans for new or enhanced interlibrary loan services incorporating continuing technological changes.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • The work is somewhat sedentary; however, some bending and standing are required and occassional lifting of moderately heavy items such as boxes of books or journals and moving book trucks is required.
  • The work is performed in a Library and an office setting.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:1) Delivers seminars, programs, modules, and/or workshops to educate individuals on issues such as copyright, author's rights, and/or licensing issues; 2) Tracks the evaluation of vendor licenses, terms and conditions for compliance with both federal laws and regulations and best practices in academic/research libraries; 3) Assists in developing copyright policies and procedures to provide instruction and recommendations to students, faculty, and or staff; and 4) Utilizes knowledge of academic library collections and resources to identify potential partners. Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Have completed 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree.

OR

Have a total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. My education, training, and experience established knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.

In lieu of meeting the minimum qualifications with specialized experience, applicants may qualify with the following education:

Have completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in library science.

OR

Have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position.

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
