The Director of PPS provides oversight of the Department-wide IT investments for over 40 component-agencies. In this role, the Director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating investments while ensuring alignment with Department-wide strategic goals and priorities, promoting the performance of key IT program investments, leveraging efficiencies, improving effectiveness, optimizing acquisition management and reducing costs. The incumbent must collaborate with other agency and department officials at committees such as the DOJ CIO Council and on enterprise-wide and federal level IT initiatives from the Office of Management and Budget, Federal CIO Council, and other bodies.
The Director of PPS also manages OCIO's IT portfolio including a budget of over $500 million and over 500 federal and contract personnel. The incumbent will direct IT strategy and programmatic direction including modification, curtailment, elimination, or expansion of IT programs and activities. With a staff of over 70 federal and contract personnel, this individual will manage and establish performance measurement standards and monitor the achievement of cost, schedule, and performance goals across the OCIO. As the budget for the OCIO comes from both appropriated and Working Capital Fund accounts, the incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of complex federal budgeting and Congressional appropriations.
