Duties

Help
  • Participate in the development and dissemination of materials through social, web, and other digital media to the public, stakeholders and media.
  • Develop concepts and approaches for delivering unique, ongoing public affairs strategies that leverage web, social, email digital channels and improve the visibility and effectiveness of the agency’s public image.
  • Develop content ideal for social and web audiences, including landing pages, channel content, and messaging, to meet program goals.
  • Identify and implement techniques to strengthen and expand social media relations to foster a dynamic, responsive partnership with the public, stakeholders and media to highlight the agency’s programs and products.
  • Manage communications related projects, including fast-paced deadlines, team member performance, and evaluation metrics and reporting on project progress.

This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

Relocation expenses may be paid.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes leading a team; working with multiple social media platforms i.e., content generation, social media monitoring and performance. Evaluating campaign effectiveness, email marketing, blogs and other digital tools. Experience with social media writing styles; published samples of blogs, op-eds, and talking points, and advising senior leadership on social media components for strategic communications plans. 

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your resume, optional cover letter and supporting documentation will be reviewed to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for the position.   • Ability to implement and evaluate results of a comprehensive digital communication strategy.
  • Skill to advise internal clients on the proper use of digital communication tools.
  • Ability to create strategic promotion plans for government agency or private organization initiatives, including inbound strategies. Skill in writing and editing blogs, tweets, talking points, and other materials promoting an organization’s programs and initiatives for a variety of multiple audiences.
