Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the Social Media Content Specialist responsible for developing modern and engaging content to support the battalion's engagement strategy for reaching audiences as part of the recruiting mission for the U.S. Army and Army Reserve
  • Assists the Advertising and Public Affairs Chief with planning social media strategies and content to communicate U.S. Army Recruiting Command's communication focus areas, priorities and missions at the battalion level.
  • Engages with audiences on the battalion's social media platforms, provide content to support recruiting company and center-level social media pages.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with social media counterparts at the recruiting brigade and USAREC headquarters.
  • Develops modern and engaging multimedia content that promotes public awareness of the organization and supports the recruiting mission using appropriate virtual communication tools to reach the intended audience.
  • Utilizes multiple social media platforms as well as social media management tools to convey information and publicize the organization's mission.
  • Monitor Army recruiting social media pages throughout the specified unit for appropriate, professional content and provide feedback and advice to page managers based on analysis of the content's effectiveness.
  • Write a variety of articles and social media posts conveying information and clarifying the Agency operations, programs and activities to specialized audiences and the general public.
  • Produce quality stories, photos, graphics and video products that educate the intended audience about Army opportunities and benefits and correct misperceptions about service.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying modern industry techniques to create engaging, effective multimedia content for use on various social media platforms such as, but not limited to, Spredfast, HootSuite, Buffer, Likeable Hub or Social Pilot; Utilize the three major social media disciplines such as; social listening, social analytics and social engagement while managing the social media program of a brand, product, individual or organization; Assist with creating multimedia content using a combination of writing, graphic design, photo manipulation and video editing skills and software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (A copy of your transcripts must be provided.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (A copy of your transcripts must be provided).
