    This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Yard, Industrial Department, Engineering Division in Baltimore, MD.

    You will be responsible for performing architectural, engineering, and scientific work relating to the form, strength, stability, performance, and operational characteristics of Coast Guard ships and boats.

    Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member.  Typical duties include:

    * Designing the functional external and internal layout of Coast Guard ships and boats.

    * Integrating all design elements (e.g., structure, equipment, systems and their components) of Coast Guard ships and boats to provide the desired characteristics of the vessel as a whole.

    * Determining buoyance and stability of ships and boats, during their design, construction and operation.

    * Designing ship and boat structures.

    * Using engineering knowledge to develop layouts and sketches for the installation, modification, or replacement of systems with Computer Aided Design (CAD) in both 2D and 3D software.

    * Managing and completing TCTO, design, production or other projects.

    * Using scheduling methods such as Critical Path Method, GANTT and Work Breakdown Structures.

    * Developing Formal Procurement process procurement packages for systems and equipment.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Could be several times a month.
