Duties

As a Sports Specialist (Baseball), you will:

  •  Be required to perform the duties of an Assistant Coach in the Academy’s Men’s Baseball program.
  •  Be responsible for the development and conduct of educational courses and programs, research, instruction and academic counseling of Midshipmen and assuming a share of departmental and other academic responsibilities.

  • GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
  • This position may be eligible for a flexible Maxi-Flex Schedule in conformance with Agency policies and approval of the required agreement.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this position, you must meet the education requirements and have experience teaching college level classes in the required field of study.

  • To qualify for a Sports Specialist (Baseball, you  must possess at least 1 full time academic year (or equivalent) of experience teaching Physical Education, Physical Fitness, Military Fitness & Training or similar related courses above the high school level and 1 sports season of full time experience (or equivalent) coaching and recruiting for a Baseball Program at the college/university/service academy/military college or professional level.

Highly Desirable:

1. Master's Degree in a field related to the duties of the position.
2. Coaching experience in pitching.
3. At least two or more full years playing and/or coaching at the collegiate level or professional level.

Education

The educational requirement for this Sports Specialist position includes a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to the duties of the position. Your application package must include transcripts to support that you have met this requirement.

Note: Applicants who do not possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a field closely related to the duties required for the position may substitute a Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field if they also possess significant professional training and specialized experience that is closely related to the duties of the position at a level of complexity and responsibility equivalent to those performed in the position.
