OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review, the Office of Management and Administration and the Office of Special Review. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

The Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) Chief Information Officer, located in the Office of Management & Administration, Information Technology Division, is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and significant advisory services related to all aspects of the OlG Information Technology (IT) systems, programs, and plans.

Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) (CIO), you will:

Develop the plans to provide all OIG components with IT systems and support. This includes researching the methods and means, developing alternative approaches, ensuring security for data, and justifying all significant IT capital investments, which includes telecommunications systems.

Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

Develop and recommend strategic direction for IT security and policy-related cyber security activities and management of staff and resources.

Establish the policy and framework for the security of IT and implementation within the OIG, representing the OIG in VA's Office of Information Resources Management Security Working Group and with the Departments IT Senior staff.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Current or prior work in at least two IT units, information security, including customer support (service desk), system administration, web or application development, database administration, and networking; AND
- Supervision or management of information technology staff members and/or contractors, AND
- Oversight of new initiatives from beginning through completion. This may include budget and policy formulation, or project management .

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
