Help

As a Management Analyst, GS-0343-7/9, you will perform a variety of developmental assignments designed to provide practical experience that builds upon your management and program analysis knowledge; develops your professional skills and judgment; and provides you with exposure to the Department's resource management programs.

Qualifications

ELIGIBILITY FOR RECENT GRADUATES PROGRAM To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, you must be a recent graduate who has completed a qualifying associate, bachelor, masters, professional, or doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from an accredited educational institution (www.education.gov/accreditation) within the previous two years. Veterans whose military service interfered with their ability to apply during that two year period may apply within two years of military discharge or 6 years from the date of receipt of the degree whichever comes first.

To qualify for the GS-07, you must possess at least one of the following:

  • Have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or private sector, performing the following duties: Work that involved analytical research and evaluation of diversified programs; and development, administration and control of assigned projects. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work is qualifying if it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable; OR,
  • One full year of graduate level education; OR,;
  • Have some experience as described in A, but less than one year; and have more than one year but less than four years of education as described in B. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify).
To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one of the following:
  • Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or private sector, performing the following duties: Work involved in analytical research and evaluation of diversified programs; development, administration and control of assigned projects; ability to access, locate, basic design, and update information through the use of personal computer technology; OR,
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR,
  • Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR,
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related, OR,
  • Have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and have more than one year but less than one years of education as described in B. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify).
NOTE: Recent Graduates who successfully complete the program may be converted to a competitive service term or permanent position without further competition.
