This position is located in the office of the Executive Secretariat, within the Office of Management and Budget for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This office serves as the Executive Secretariat for the Administrator and the Headquarters organizational elements. The incumbent serves as an editor for the Director, Executive Secretariat, editing correspondence, letters and reports to Congress, and other NNSA documents. The incumbent must consistently ensure a high level of accuracy and flexibility in editing and adapting content for a wide variety of national and international audiences. In this position you will play an important role in accomplishing the national security mission of the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.

As an Editor, you will:
Edit correspondence, letters, and reports to Congress for the Administrator and Principal Deputy Administrator.
Draft/review/edit substantive written materials for the Administrator and Principal Deputy Administrator as requested, including correspondence, reports, papers, key messages, and other written communications. This includes targeted messages for internal communications within NNSA or for specific stakeholders and partners, as needed by the Office of the Administrator.
Conduct research on Congressional and legislative reporting requirements and solicit inputs from across the organization as needed.
Analyze information, including legislation, financial information and other numerical, qualitative, and quantitative data, to extract key messages for integration into correspondence and reports as required.
Work with senior managers and colleagues in various NNSA organizations, including Office of External Affairs, Public Affairs staff to incorporate leadership messaging into written products.
Apply subjective considerations that lead to value judgments regarding importance and validity of information to recommend inclusion in or exclusion from executive correspondence and reports.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships in achieving understanding with groups with opposing points of view.

You will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
There are no education requirements for this position. You must have one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade in the federal system, i.e., NQ-01 or GS-07 grade level.
OR
You may substitute the completion of two full years of graduate level education or all the requirements for a master's (or higher) degree in a field directly related to analysis work, i.e., business administration, journalism, English or similar, for the specialized experience requirement for NQ-02. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total requirements.
Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
