Summary
The incumbent serves as a mathematical statistician in the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE), the incumbent participates with senior staff members in the design and execution of the strategic planning process and establishing agency performance goals.
Conducts data and statistical analytics of SSA program information and conducts research projects to improve the efficiency of SSA's operations and service delivery.
Designs and executes complex statistical research studies into program operations to identify and resolve service delivery issues, including requisite survey and experiment design, data wrangling, research, and analysis.
Provides statistical advice and support on study, experiment, and survey design, sample selection, variance calculations, hypothesis testing, and data analysis
Appraises estimation procedures and reliability measures. Maintains data quality control processes and advises on data validity and interpretation.
Analyzes study findings and develops recommendations proceeding from study results.
Prepares background papers, confidential reports, briefing materials, and recommendations.

Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position? Such experience should include statistical work that involves leading the designing, developing, and adapting of mathematical methods and techniques to statistical processes; or research that supports or provides findings related to theories and science of statistics. This experience must be related to leading research of new sampling and/or estimation techniques for statistics, advising on technical issues central to initiating new statistical programs or major revisions to current statistical programs, making recommendations to management on interpreting multiple, conflicting, or incomplete data via presentations; this experience must be related to at least one or more of the following areas: sampling, collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, or applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
In addition, applicants must have a bachelor's or higher degree that includes 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics which includes at least 4 of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite; and 6 semester hours were in statistics. OR
A combination of education and experience with at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
