The FEC Inspector General (IG) carries out and supervises the functions, powers, and duties of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) as provided in the Inspector General Act of 1978. The IG provides leadership and coordination and recommends policies for activities designed to:
Promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of FEC programs, and
Detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in FEC programs and operations.
This is a Non-Bargaining Unit position.
Summary

As the Inspector General in this position, you will:
Lead, direct, and coordinate the OIG operations in a small office with fewer than 10 permanent staff.
Conduct and oversee the conduct of OIG investigations, audits, and inspections and evaluations.
Manage OIG plans and programs and operational and administrative activities, such as budgeting, contracting, and personnel management.
Keep the FEC Commissioners and Congress fully informed about problems and deficiencies relating to program administration and operations, the necessity for corrective actions, and progress in their implementation.
You must be able to pass a background investigation.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see Legal and regulatory guidance below).
You may be required to serve a 2 year probationary period.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Status candidates must meet time-in-grade/band requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade).
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
You must have at least one full year of specialized experience in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, law, management analysis, public administration, or investigations. This must include activities such as: (1) administering, auditing, or analyzing an organization's programs to promote and uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability; (2) managing, organizing, and planning work activities for a program or program area; (3) leading and supervising professional staff, either directly or through subordinate supervisors; (4) working towards improving the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's operations; and (5) maintaining open lines of communication with senior management officials on issues or problems requiring corrective actions. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-15 level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors).
