As a Communication Specialist, you will coordinate, plan, develop and carry out communications programs for the Office of the Commissioner. The Office of the Commissioner is responsible for providing leadership and overall executive and program direction to ensure the mission and responsibilities of FAS (Federal Acquisition Service) are effectively carried out.

* Formulates effective communications plans and procedures that are closely linked to FAS mission, priorities and initiatives.
* Develops communications objectives, major message points and identifies recommended communication platforms including web and printed materials.
* Serves as advisor to the FAS Commissioner, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commissioner on communication strategies and execution.
* Prepares FAS messages to be disseminated to the appropriate audiences in order to further the FAS strategic vision, mission, and goals.
* Identifies unique sources of product and consumer intelligence and develops advanced communications strategies for reaching target audiences.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $114,590 per year.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is creating communication plans and strategies for the dissemination of information on policies, programs, and initiatives of an organization/company to both internal and external audiences; determining the most efficient and effective communication tools and technologies to employ in the dissemination of information; providing recommendations on communication issues; and analyzing the effectiveness of the communications program or initiatives.

* Knowledge and skill sufficient for presenting ideas in written formats in new ways that will increase understanding among publics with varying levels of comprehension of agency programs and policies.
