For the GS-05: The duties at the GS-05 level are essentially the same as the GS-07, but are more developmental in nature.
For the GS-07: Provides support to higher-grade Investigators by performing developmental assignments to facilitate the efforts of investigative/audit teams. Conducts searches for information from labor organization financial reports, union constitutions and other documents. Organizes information to assist in preparations for civil and criminal investigations. Participates in the planning portions of straight-forward civil and criminal investigations and compliance audits of local unions. Conducts assigned portions of compliance audits and criminal and civil investigations of union operations or financial practices. May perform specific monitoring duties during supervised union elections related to compliance with LMRDA and related laws. With the assistance of a supervisor or a higher-grade Investigator, conducts specifically selected, straightforward civil and criminal investigations, compliance audits, and routine enforcement activities that provide the employee with an opportunity to strengthen investigative skills. Typical assignments involve analysis of the operations of small to moderate sized local unions where the required facts and evidence are available through the application of standard investigative techniques and established methods and procedures. Conducts compliance assistance, participates in liaison activities and serves as a team member in enforcement activities as well.
Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.

Qualifications
For GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
For GS-07 Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision (S.A.A.) and a completion of a bachelor's degree.
To meet the Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) which recognizes college or university students who have achieved superior academic standing as evidenced by one of the three methods described below.
