Duties

Help
  • Research, construct, present, and secure the Data Analytics Platform, including: requirements gathering, installation design, creating standard operating procedures, problem resolution, and IT support for Enterprise Linux, Hadoop, or Windows 2016
  • Document client user requirements, research and comply with DoD IT policy, and coordinate with DoD OIG IT Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure to implement updates and ensure Data Analytics Platform clients remain secure and functional
  • Identify, gather, and understand relevant data to support analysis and assess relative quality and reliability of the data
  • Data preparation, including data cleansing, transformation, combination, aggregation, and scripts for reoccurring ingestion in preparation for modeling and analysis
  • Develop data visualizations of results for ease of use and adoption of analytics
  • Administer regular training sessions and maintain open office hours for teams to directly ask for analytics software support

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Must be able to obtain an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II level certification within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess:

GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-05 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: providing systems administration support using Windows 2012, Windows 2016, Hadoop, or Enterprise Linux AND IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-07 LEVEL: One full year of graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or superior academic achievement (SAA) with a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Combination of education and experience is not applicable for this position.
Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Bachelors degree required or a senior in college can apply with certain considerations (please use link to OPM to determine if you qualify)
Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
Grade Point Average (GPA) -
3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
Election to membership in specific National Scholastic Honor Societies.

GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining compliance with organizational IT policies; providing systems administration support using Windows 2012, Windows 2016, Hadoop, or Enterprise Linux; and IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-09 LEVEL: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Combination of education and experience is not applicable for this position.


GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-09 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining and documenting compliance with organizational IT policies; providing systems administration support using Windows 2012, Windows 2016, Hadoop, or Enterprise Linux; and IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-11 LEVEL: Qualifying Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Combination of education and experience is not applicable for this position.

As a condition of employment, the individual must possess or be able to obtain an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II level certification, within 6 months of employment.
