This position serves as the Assistant Administrator, Field Operations in the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and serves as a key management official supporting the Administrator and Deputy Administrator. Incumbent is responsible for the law enforcement and regulatory aspects of the alcohol and tobacco laws and regulations of the TTB policies. This position is responsible for nationwide programs designed to regulate the operations of the legal industries for revenue collection; protect the consumer through the elimination of improper trade practices in the alcohol beverage industry; and ensure the effectiveness of the investigative, regulatory, and evaluation processes for the alcohol and tobacco industries.

As an Assistant Administrator, Field Operations, you will:
- Direct all aspects of the TTB's Field Operations to include workload and personnel, program evaluation, industry and public relations and significant management actions.
- Direct the enforcement of the Federal Alcohol Administration Act (FAA) and Internal Revenue Code (IRC) relating to alcohol and tobacco industries and other legal and regulatory activities.
- Conduct and attend meetings with executives of the regulated alcohol and tobacco industries or officials representing these industries, and with officials of the Treasury Department to discuss and reach agreements on problems concerning Federal law, Treasury policies and regulations, new products and similar matters which have significant impact on the TTB's regulated industries or the public.
- Meet with Federal, State and local officials and representatives of foreign governments and act as a spokesperson to discuss mutual problems concerning the enforcement and regulation of the alcohol and tobacco industries and related activities.
- Oversee the implementation of Presidential initiatives and new legislation between the Department of Treasury, Congressional and White House staff, Office of Management and Budget and subordinate TTB managers and supervisors.
Current career Senior Executives, QRB-certified graduates of SES candidate development programs, and individuals with SES reinstatement eligibility are not required to address the executive core qualifications. They are required to address the technical qualifications. All other applicants are required to address both the executive core qualifications and the technical professional competencies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Qualifications Approval and Probationary Period: Persons newly selected for career appointment to the SES must have their executive core qualifications approved by the Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Review Board and will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
