Summary

The Housekeeping Aid at the full performance WG-02 level reports directly to an assigned Supervisor or Manager and may be required to work weekends and various shifts depending upon the needs of the facility. Under direct supervision and minimal direction from a supervisor or team leader, perform cleaning related duties.

Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Select and use special cleaning agents and germicidal solutions to remove stains from a wide variety of surfaces and to provide a safe Medical Center environment.
Clean ash trays, smoke stands, sand urns in designated smoke areas and water fountains as required.
Provide interim cleaning of windows and window ledges from the inside, clean glass doors and other glass surfaces.
Clean rest rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms ensuring that they are cleaned and meet acceptable standards.
Clean rolling stock items and other reusable medical equipment (RME) such as wheelchairs, portable lifts, stationary lifts and scales.
Provide bed-making or discharge cleaning, as indicated in the service level policy, services in-patient care areas.
Clean administrative areas to include: offices, lobbies, stairwells, medical rooms, computer rooms and recreation rooms and furniture following established cyclic cleaning procedures.
Empty trash and waste baskets, replacing liners.
Transport general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central collection areas following established procedures for waste management.
Replenish supplies of paper towel, toilet paper, feminine products, hand gel/foam and soap in all areas where dispensers are located.
Conduct wall washing, cleaning doors, door frames, baseboards, corners, edges, spot washing areas, cleaning light fixtures, cleaning vents on ceilings and walls and conducts high/low dusting.
Sweep,and mop various types of floors.
Scrub, strip, wax and polish floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers

Qualifications

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The physical demands of the position is normally some heavy lifting (equipment and materials) and movement of furniture. Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting effort are required in the performance of manual tasks described; such as washing walls above five feet and operating powered equipment over extended periods of time when providing training to employees. The work may be done from a ladder and may require lifting of up to 50 lbs.
