This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Mission Support Team Front Office. The position provides centralized administrative support services that contribute to efficient and effective Directorate operations, the accomplishment strategic goals, and the attainment of organizational performance measures. The incumbent advises the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff on budget, training, travel, payroll, immediate facilities, personnel, and equipment matters.

Help

The incumbent assists the Administrative Officer (AO) with performing management advisory services related to manpower, workforce planning, human resources, resources management, equipment management, space utilization, travel, security, budget, purchases and records management and automated systems.

The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG). Organizational entities with the DoD are not required to conduct drug testing for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another TDP with no break in service within the DoD, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis by the gaining Component.
Military retirees seeking to enter civil service in the Department of Defense now require a waiver if they are within 180 days following their official date of retirement (5 United States Code 3326.).

Qualifications

You may qualify for the GS-12 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications requirements:

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: Ability to interact with senior leadership and provide recommendations in the decision process. Utilize administrative policies to provide technical support to the office, external and internal personnel. Applying technical procedures relating to budget, training, travel, property and supply. Review and edit correspondence, documents and reports to ensure accuracy of grammar and format and compliance with relevant policies in written products. Analyzing and verifying data and producing reports to perform tasks budget, training, travel, time and attendance and other administrative areas. Proficient in MS Office and automated systems.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
