Duties

Help

Serves as working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing calibration and repair support of unusually complex high precision calibration laboratory reference standards, and customer test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) requiring measurement accuracies only available at reference laboratory level. Certification of calibration standards insures that TMDE serviced by Army calibration laboratories are in first class condition to assure accuracy, reliability and traceability of test results and measurements throughout the Army. The highest level of nonsupervisory work led is Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic, WG-2602-12.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an PRECISON MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR LEADER without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
  • Ability To Lead Or Supervise
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices
  • Troubleshooting
  • The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
  • The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • This is a Career Program (CP) position.
