Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a Supervisory Staff Curator and perform a variety of routine and special duties in connection with the administration of the Curator Branch.
  • You will be responsible for oversight of the Collection Management Facility at Defense Supply Center Richmond.
  • You will be responsible for the day to day management of the artifact collection and tasked with implementing branch strategic initiatives such as the artifact baselines reset and backlog elimination projects.
  • You will answer technical and general inquiries from internal stakeholders as well as external partners on the accountability and conservation of historical properties in the collection.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Qualifying experience includes: 1) Utilizing computerized collections data management systems for curatorial purposes; 2) Preparing budget plans for authority approval; and 3) Applying museum collections management practices in a curatorial environment.

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Demonstrated experience in managing museum professionals (curators, museum specialists, and technicians).

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a degree in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field; OR a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education; OR four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study as shown above.
