At the GS-07 level:
1. Serve as a member of an audit team.
2. Perform specified audit tasks and complete required training as directed by supervisor.
3. Research applicable laws, directives, regulations, manuals, prior studies, and audit reports to gain knowledge and understanding of areas being audited.
4. Obtain data relevant to area being audited.
5. Complete multiple steps in an audit guide as directed by the supervisor.
6. Participate in discussions with audit clients..
7. Maintains security and accountability of classified information.
At the GS-09 level:
1. Serve as a junior auditor as a member of an audit team.
2. Completes segments of an audit guide as directed.
3. Organizes and summarizes audit date to support finding elements.
4. Assists in writing segments of draft and final reports.
5. Develops audit recommendations for management action.

Qualifications

This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify for this position you must meet one if the basic requirements described below.
(1) Bachelor's degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
(2) A combination or education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (This can include up to 6 hours of business law). A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtain through written examination.

In Addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
To be hired at the GS-7 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent in the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a GS-05 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: 52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service, utilizing basic knowledge of auditing and/or accounting principles and procedures; working as part of an auditing and/or accounting team; and accomplishing basic auditing and/or accounting data collection.
To be hired at the GS-9 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent in the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience Definition: 52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, utilizing knowledge of auditing and/or accounting principles and procedures in the planning and execution of audits.
Substitution of education for GS-9 specialized experience: A Master's or equivalent graduate level degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirement.
