About the Position: This position serves in a multi-role (scrub; monitor; circulator; instructor; equipment, supply and budget) capacity as a Cardiovascular Medical Instrument Technician and functions cooperatively as a member of the cardiovascular laboratory team at Womack Army Medical Center. Fort Bragg is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC, centrally located in the beautiful state of NC, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Help
  • Participates with physician in planning procedures then initiates preparation for physician-directed procedure and independently makes recommendations about procedures.
  • Operates an interactive computerized digital subtraction angiographic system in order to produce coronary and left ventricular graphic images, and to perform pulmonary, aortic, and peripheral arterial imaging.
  • Responsible for all required daily maintenance and preventive maintenance of cine processing equipment. Identifies, files, and stores such records including a complete record of all patient x-ray parameters.
  • Trains cardiovascular technicians, nurses, students and physicians in all phases of radiographic operations related to the performance of cardiac catheterizations.
  • Ensures that the Cardiac Cath Lab has adequate supplies for all procedures performed.

  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience assisting in identifying patient specific procedures in the cardiovascular laboratory; setting up, operating, or maintaining medical equipment; and monitoring patient condition during procedures.

  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing. A job offer to an applicant who is a not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment. Applications from such individuals shall not be considered for employment for a period of 6 months from the date of the test results.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
