Duties

Help

As a Public Affairs Specialist you will:

  • Develop and provide staff direction involving public information activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with print and broadcast media representatives in disseminating information or answering inquiries about the organizations' operations or activities.
  • Write articles and speeches and prepare and/or publish organization publications.
  • Develop appropriate communication channels, techniques and strategies for use by others in disseminating information to hard-to-reach audiences.
  • Develop campaign or program guidelines.

Qualifications

APPLYING FOR GS-11:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, to successfully perform the duties of a this position, to include experience assisting with coordination of news media inquiries, disseminating public health information to the media and assisting with public affairs/news media emergency response, issues management, and/or risk communication activities for a large agency/organization.
OR;
Have a Ph.D, or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree or LL.M. from an accredited college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work (e.g. human resources management, business, or law).
OR;
Have a combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
