Fall Semester dates: September - December - Fall Semester application deadline: mid July

The Federal Judicial Center (FJC) is the federal courts' agency for continuing education and research. Congress established the Center in 1967 as a separate organization within the federal judicial system at the request of the Judicial Conference of the United States. A nine-member board chaired by the Chief Justice of the United States, determines its basic policies. The FJC is located in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building which is immediately adjacent to Union Station.

The Information Technology Office (ITO) works with each of the other divisions within the Federal Judicial Center: Research, Education, History, and International Relations. ITO consists of an applications development team, systems team, and a technical support team. The internship work will be primarily with the program support team to provide A/V support in technology equipped conference and meetings room. The internship may also include work with the systems and development teams.

Duties

Help

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Information Technology Intern is to assist staff through the following kinds of activities:

  • Participate in program planning meetings.
  • Provide A/V and IT technical support for programs and meetings. This includes serving as an in-room technician.
  • Connect PCs, MACs, tablets, phones and other devices to WiFi and static internet.
  • Double-check A/V equipment in the FJC auditorium, conference and training rooms for use by the Center.
  • Record sessions.
  • Assist with the inventory of A/V equipment.
  • Provide assistance to Center staff who may require help when developing presentations, using applications such as MS Office Suite, and other technology requests.

Additional information

Interns are limited a maximum of 39 hours a week. Benefits are not applicable for this position.
