Duties

Help
  • Manages lifecycle of IT equipment including desktop/laptop/thin client computers, peripherals, and software. Identifies requirements, oversees installation and maintenance, and manages warranties, service and other manufacturer support.
  • Analyzes customer service call metrics, data and surveys, reviews user requirements; and develops options to maximize return on investment.
  • Performs market research, benchmarking or cost benefit analysis, evaluates products for compatibility and compliance with existing equipment, systems and environment.
  • Assists with managing incorporation of new client-based IT equipment and systems to ensure minimum disruption to operations and optimum customer support.
  • Contracting Officer Technical Representative on client-based hardware maintenance contracts ensuring requirements are met and resolving problems with performance. Interacts with contractors on equipment repair, systems installations and upgrades.
  • Manages component accountable IT property accountability, ensuring application of DoD and Federal controls and policies; develops and manages spreadsheets for non-accountable property accountability.

  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subject to random drug testing thereafter.
  • Drug testing is not required for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position to another with no break in service.
  • Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
  • Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level. Examples of specialized experience include: managing the lifecycle of IT system(s) or equipment; developing and communicating written materials concerning IT systems; managing property accountability; and managing IT equipment warranties, service and other manufacturer support.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.

  • Applying IT project management methods and practices to develop options for improved capability in IT equipment deployment and improving customer support.
  • Skill in oral and written communication, technical writing, creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), presenting reports, and effectively working in a team environment.
