Conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.
Consult with customers to evaluate functional requirements; coordinate with systems architects and developers to provide oversight in the development of IT design solutions.
Collaborate with organizational managers to support organizational objectives: identify IT security program implications of new technologies or upgrades.
Identify need for changes based on new security technologies or threats by review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.
Develop long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.

Qualifications
?This announcement is issued under the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) to recruit for positions for which there is a critical hiring need. Selectee(s) will receive a career or career-conditional appointment in the competitive service and may be required to serve a one year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level (starting salary $87,252) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level (starting salary $103,106) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
Attention to Detail: Applying IT security principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices to develop and interpret policies and strategies governing the operation of information systems and networks.
Customer Service: Interpreting and implementing IT security policies and strategies governing the operation of information systems and networks.
Problem Solving: Modifying IT plans and policies to respond to changes in the organization's business requirements and processes or changes in legislation or regulatory requirements.
Oral Communication: Recommending best practices, plans and policies to improve cybersecurity incident response.
In ADDITION to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following duties:
Providing expert advice to improve cyber security and IT risk management.
Developing and coordinating activities to protect IT systems, services, and capabilities.
