GAO's Office of the General Counsel is seeking an experienced attorney for the team of attorneys that provides legal advice and assistance to GAO’s Office of Opportunity and Inclusiveness (O&I) team and the Comptroller General of the United States and others.
The attorney will work on a wide variety of issues associated with federal Equal Employment Opportunity law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Title VII), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Equal Pay Act (EPA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and GAO policies. The attorney will work collaboratively with O&I staff and other attorneys to provide legal assistance and counsel to ensure GAO’s EEO and O&I program is carried out, including the discrimination complaint process and investigations.
Attorneys with experience in issues involving federal EEO, Title VII, workplace investigations and complaint processing law and policy, or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply.

Researching and applying federal Equal Employment Opportunity law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Title VII), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Equal Pay Act (EPA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA).
Researching and applying GAO policy related to EEO matters, including sexual harassment and unprofessional conduct of a sexual nature.
Providing legal counsel to GAO’s Office of Opportunity and Inclusiveness on the above-referenced laws and policies, as well as any other efforts undertaken by the office. Conducting certain EEO and GAO policy investigations.
Briefing and collaborating with GAO management on the above-referenced legal and policy matters.
Band III attorneys (PA-03) will be expected to possess a higher degree of professional knowledge, expertise, and experience than Band II (PA-02) attorneys, and will perform their duties with greater independence.

Qualifications
You must meet the minimum qualification requirements by the closing date of this job opportunity announcement.
Must have a J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
Must be an active member in good standing of a bar of a state, a territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Band II Senior Staff Attorney candidates must have a minimum of two years (104 weeks) of legal experience working with and applying the laws, policies, and regulations related to the duties of the position.
Band III Senior Attorney candidates must have a minimum of four years (208 weeks) of legal experience working with and applying the laws, policies, and regulations related to the duties of the position.
