- Helps prepare, adjust, and submit monthly reports for financial statements, status of funds, and triannual reviews.
- Updates subsidiary ledgers and financial management databases.
- Helps prepares month-end and fiscal year-end adjustments to ledgers and reports, reconcile accounts to the trial balance, SF133, SF132 and 1002 reports, and conform to regulatory and statutory guidelines.
- Performs analysis and reconciliation functions for the monthly and quarterly review of commitments and obligations as required by regulation.
- Assists in the accounting transaction approval and validation process.

Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.ORCombination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining accounting records and preparing, analyzing and interpreting financial statements; reviewing accounting data for accuracy; monitoring financial logs to identify errors or trends; utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to provide accounting services for structured and defined accounts and internal controls processes; and providing qualitative and quantitative analysis of accounting-related transactions.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).
